When founder Kate Spade and husband Andy launched their very first ad campaigns decades ago, the duo enlisted a photographer who matched their sense of witticism and irreverence – Tim Walker. Today, under the hand of new creative director Nicola Glass, the firm has returned to their roots – teaming once again with Walker to envision their Spring 2019 ad campaign.

Over the years, Tim Walker has photographed some of the most iconic Kate Spade ads we’ve seen today. Walker’s innate sense of creative direction combined with Kate Spade’s ever-so vibrant and spunky designs, has resulted in an extremely memorable archive of visionary brilliance.

The campaign features actresses Julia Gardner, Kiki Layne, and Sadie Sink – from Ozark, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Stranger Things – respectively. Showcasing the suburbs and all their glory, we see the three girls living inside the whimsical atmosphere of Walker’s imagination. The girls – staged upon very Kate Spade-like props and backgrounds, radiating playful patterns and lively colors – boldly present the latest Kate Spade collection in a way that is anything but bleak. It is with this artistic direction that we are reminded of all the wonders of the brands’ origins — classic Kate Spade.

We at The Impression, respect the brand going back to its heritage. This campaign is fun, it’s fresh, and it catches our eye — its creative synergy giving us a greater appreciation and new sense of suburban youth.
